HDFC Bank · IN
Repeated digital-channel and payment-utility outages
A payment or transfer set up on the bank’s own digital channel executes on its due date, or fails cleanly and visibly.
Payment scheduled but not executed
Customers publicly reported scheduled payments failing, salary credits unreachable and one-time passwords undelivered while netbanking and the mobile app were unavailable.
RBI order dated 2 December 2020 directed the bank to temporarily stop all launches of Digital 2.0 business-generating activities and the sourcing of new credit card customers, and directed its Board to examine the lapses and fix accountability. Card sourcing was relaxed after 258 days; the Digital 2.0 restriction stood for 464 days.
